Frequently asked questions
Why is a German company required for Amazon.de FBA?
The Amazon.de marketplace expects an EU-resident VAT-registered seller structure. Selling through a Turkish LLC means (1) you can't join the PAN-EU program, (2) periodic Amazon ID verification fails, (3) DE customers can't request reverse charge. A GmbH/UG + USt-IdNr resolves these issues.
GmbH or UG for Amazon FBA?
UG (€1 to start) is ideal for FBA starters — low cost, recognised by Amazon the same way. You must allocate 25% of annual profit to capital but it's not a practical issue. If you target €100K+ revenue, convert to a GmbH later (the original entity is preserved).
What are USt-IdNr and EORI for?
USt-IdNr (DE...) is mandatory for issuing intra-EU B2B Reverse Charge invoices. EORI (Economic Operators Registration) is for customs operations. If you import from China for Amazon FBA inventory, customs clearance is impossible without EORI.
What else do I need to join the PAN-EU program?
Beyond this bundle: VAT registration in EU countries where Amazon moves your stock — Poland, Czechia, France, Italy, Spain. Plus Amazon Tax Calculation Service (separate VAT return per country). We can add these as optional services.
What's the monthly compliance cost?
DATEV bookkeeping (€149/mo), monthly VAT return (€149/mo, mandatory the first two years), Amazon reporting (manual or integrated). Annual corporate tax bundle (€890). Active FBA sellers typically run €5,000–€8,000/yr in compliance.
